BACKGROUND
The Corridor Plan is a design for
a continuous multi-purpose corridor along the San Jose Creek. The Plan will build
a program based on demographic research, public outreach and coordination with other
agencies with an interest in the San Jose Creek Corridor. The goal is to create
a plan which will transform the San Gabriel Creek into an amenity for its surrounding
communities.
The corridor will include a bike/hike/equestrian trail with regular pocket parks
and recreational/landscaping amenities. Gateways into surrounding neighborhoods
will attract residents and workers to the creek amenities. Further, the plan will
integrate the creek into regional trail networks.
The plan will also address opportunities for education about water, watershed issues,
stormwater, habitats and corridors and native flora. Use of watershed-native plants
and habitat development as well as use of the creek as a wildlife corridor are important
considerations.
