The Los Angeles region needs to reduce its reliance on imported water. In order to achieve this long-term outcome, we need to improve the quality and reliability of our local water resources by increasing conservation, recycling, and the use of local water resources. We need to reduce storm water runoff to the sea and increase infiltration to augment groundwater and surface water supplies. The Council for Watershed Health’s urban storm water program uses research, planning, and education to achieve these goals.
