#SummerScienceFriday: Where to recreate on the LA River
Now that we have told you what to look for on the Los Angeles river and how to responsibly recreate there, it is only fitting that we offer you a guide for river recreation. Being the hotspot for biodiversity that it is, the river’s offerings of outdoor recreational experiences are best enjoyed on a hot summer day. One of the goals of the Los Angeles River Watershed Monitoring Program (LARWMP) is to test if the water is safe for recreation, which is why we make sure to monitor popular recreation sites.
This map of our monitoring sites not only provides you with a list of great places to cool off during the summer, but also with an idea of where we collect water quality data that indicates whether these sites pose potential public health risks.
